Application Process

Thank you for your interest in working for our company. Our jobs are hospitality and food service jobs. They offer mostly part-time and on-call work. We welcome your application.

You are considered an applicant only when you:
- Have completed the Online form for a current opening, legibly and completely, including the last five years of employment and non-employment history (using additional sheets if necessary); and
- Meet the minimum requirements for the job; and
- Complete the Step One Survey II over the internet.

Note: All three of the above conditions must be met before your application is considered.

We accept applications during business hours and conduct interview by appointment only.
We interview those applicants who, in our sole judgment, have the skills, education, and qualifications we are seeking and appear best qualified to meet the requirements of a particular job. Usually, we will advise applicants as to the status of their application either by telephone or by letter.
When an applicant comes in for a job interview, we would expect he or she to be dressed and groomed appropriately for the job they are applying for. When in doubt about how to dress for a job interview, remember the rule to dress one step up from how a person would normally dress for that particular job.
Job offers are made solely by the Human Resources Department. No expectation of pay increases, benefits, or guaranteed hours is implicit in any offer.

Qualifications

All of our work areas are fast-paced and employees are expected to work and move quickly. Many work-areas are cramped, noisy, and the floors are often slippery. We welcome your application, if you feel you qualify for a particular position that is open.

All foodservice employees need a current food handler permit issued by any county in Utah or by Hotel Temple Square Corporation. How to Get a Food Handler Permit

Most of our jobs are part-time hospitality and foodservice jobs. These are generally entry-level so experience is not necessary but is very helpful. Experience in working with the public is vital for jobs which will involve customer contact.

All of our facilities are 100 percent non-smoking. Our employees are not allowed to smoke on the job, there are no smoking breaks provided, and employees must ensure that they do not smell of tobacco smoke. This applies to all tobacco products.

A person must be at least 16 years old to work in our company. However, a degree of maturity is expected when working with our customers, the public in general, and other employees.

For certain positions such as those working with kitchen equipment or driving, employees must be at least 18 years of age.

Skilled Positions

Generally when we hire, chefs, cooks, and bakers, we are looking for individuals who have had considerable experience in other fine dining restaurants, hotels, or bakeries. Graduation from a culinary school is also very helpful.

Front Desk and Luggage Attendant

A good driving record is required. Ability to lift and move luggage weighing up to 50 pounds.

Managerial Positions

The people we hire for managerial positions typically already have extensive experience in hospitality and foodservice. We have a strong tradition of promoting from within.

Secretarial and Clerical

We have very few positions in this category.

Restaurant Servers

With our tradition of promoting from within, the best way to become a tipped restaurant server is generally by hiring as a banquet server, and assistant server (a busser or food runner).

How to Get a Food Handler Permit

All foodservice employees need a current food handler permit issued by any county in Utah or by Temple Square Hospitality Corporation. A ServSafe Certificate issued within three years of hire date may be substituted for a food handler’s permit . Click here for details of how to obtain a permit.

Come in to our Human Resources office which is in Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. This is on the corner of South Temple and Main Street. It is a big white building, ten stories high and was formerly the Hotel Utah. Take the elevator to the 9th floor. Turn left after you leave the elevator. Our office is in the east wing. Ask for help at the first desk as you enter the corporate office. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Apply online.
