“What’s new with weddings! My name is Dianne Theurer and I have been the Director of Catering at the Joseph Smith Building for 18 years and in the wedding business for over 30.
Years come and go and weddings change, but one thing that doesn’t change is the excitement and thrill that comes with planning a wedding. We are starting a new section in our blog called “Tips from the Experts,” in which we will pass along fun ideas, pictures of real weddings, suggestions for planning a wedding and a multitude of timeless ideas to help you with planning a successful wedding and enjoying the ride along the way.
We all know that times are rough, but there is one thing that is always constant and that is love and marriage. They are recession proof. Our modern day brides are stylish, sophisticated and sassy and determined to make their weddings exclusive and unique.
I just returned from The Special Event 2011, a conference that hosts the top event and wedding designers in the world. I came back with some wonderful ideas and trends that I will share with you over the next few weeks.
The number one trend is in color and the color of the year is Pantone # 18-2120 Honeysuckle; a warm rich pink color that can be paired with just about anything. We are still seeing a lot of turquoise, last year’s color of the year, along with vibrant yellows and metallic’s, purples, fucias and greens. So how do you pick your wedding colors? Look around and find your inspiration in nature, parks, architecture, colors and art pieces. Browse through home catalogs, style catalogues or go on line to Pantone.com for a myriad of color suggestions. There is also a great color site at www.colorlovers.com. This will give you great ideas for pairing colors and patterns. It is a great site!
Check our blog for more tips and ideas! Next time we will feature the wedding of our Wedding Show coordinator. It was beautiful and she had some really fun ideas. Until then, it doesn’t take much to take your wedding from “so so” to sensational. Blog on for help.”
