Tips From The Experts: Tassels

Not only are we seeing Tassels in fashion design as depicted in this article in Family Circle Magazine for April 2011, we are also seeing tassels used in wedding design.

Tassels can be used in floral arrangements, on cakes, on chair backs or in bridal bouquets to give an elegant or a flirty look to your wedding design.

Tips From The Experts: Culture

Ethnic wedding traditions represent the culture, values and beliefs of a particular country. Many wedding traditions are full of symbolism that reveal a specific culture and life style. Each wedding tradition honors the sanctity of marriage and features themes of unity and new beginnings for the couple.

The Joseph Smith Memorial Building was fortunate to be able to host one such wedding where the brides Persian culture was celebrated at the reception.

The couple was married in the temple in a traditional LDS ceremony, but the reception was full of tradition and symbolism from the bride’s ethnic background. It was beautiful and very touching for all who attended.

Tips From The Experts: Theme Elements

On Tuesday night we hosted the Temple Square Hospitality awards banquet in the Sharon Manchester Room at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.

This is an annual event where we honor our employees for their service and tenure.  This is an over the top event where we show off some of the latest trends and what is new out in the event arena.  This year our theme was centered around “bees.”

Some of the colors and details could be used to create a beautiful spring wedding.

The tablecloths were black with apple green overlays and yellow spring flowers.  Instead of doing one single centerpiece, we opted for a tablescape.

This allowed us to add more variety and texture to the tables with different flowers, vases and candles.  Each table had a slightly different look.  We used honey for a favor and added a little thank you note for the guests to take away. It was fun and springy and refreshing just after a big snow storm.

Cupcake Bouquet

It’s a beautiful bouquet of flowers, but wait, they’re actually cupcakes!!

A bride just recently told our event coordinators at The Joseph Smith Memorial Building about her plan to have a gorgeous cupcake bouquet for her wedding cake!  What a fun and unique idea!

If you’ve never seen any cupcake bouquets before, check out more pictures from Google Images.  You’re in for a real treat!
