The Lion House

BANQUET GUIDELINES

The staff and management of The Lion House are committed to bringing you the finest quality service and food. Our unsurpassed service affords you complete assurance that all commitments will be carried out, absolutely on schedule, and to your complete satisfaction. Allow our professional catering staff to assist you in handling any details to ensure an ultimately successful event.

In order to assure you and your guests a well-organized function, we must ask that you adhere to the following catering policies.

100% SMOKE AND ALCOHOL-FREE

The Lion House and all of its banquet facilities are 100% smoke-free. No alcoholic beverages are permitted on the premises. No coffee or tea will be served at the Lion House.

Seating

Please advise us at least 48 hours in advance of your final requirements for all seating arrangements and meeting room setups. Banquet seating will normally be on round tables that seat eight people unless long tables are requested and can be accommodated. Special arrangements for handicapped individuals or specific seating should be made at this time. The Lion House must be notified 48 hours prior to the function of the exact number of guests. You will then be charged for this number even if there are fewer in attendance. Children's portions are $2.00 off of the regular menu price and must be ordered at the time your final count is given.

ROOM RESERVATIONS

Banquet rooms are assigned based on the number of anticipated guests. If attendance increases or decreases before the event, The Lion House reserves the right to relocate your event to a room appropriate to the number of your guests. If multiple rooms are reserved but your final count can be accommodated in fewer rooms, a cancellation fee will be assessed.

DEPOSITS

A deposit is required for all Lion House events. All deposits must be received within 15 days of the initial booking. All deposits will be applied toward the balance. Credit cards and checks are accepted for deposits. The amount of the deposit is determined by the size of the room. If for any reason your need to change the date of your function, you may do so once. The deposit will be transferred if the change is made 30 days or more before your original function date. If you make the change within 30 days, you will forfeit the deposit and an additional deposit will be required. Deposits for December are non-refundable (see cancellation policy)..

CANCELLATION POLICY

If a function must be cancelled, the deposit will be refunded in full if the Catering Office has received notification at least 90 days prior to the function. Otherwise, the deposit is non refundable. If multiple rooms are reserved but your final count can be accommodated in fewer rooms, a cancellation fee will be assessed. If a deposit has not been paid, a fee will be assessed. Because of the volume of business and the demand for reservations in the month of December, those deposits CANNOT be refunded or transferred.

PAYMENT

Payment in full is due 48 hours prior to your event, along with your final count, by cash, credit card or certified check. All requests for direct billing must be submitted and authorized at least 15 days prior to your scheduled event.

SERVICE CHARGE - STATE TAX

A 19% Service Charge will automatically be assessed, which includes set-up fees. Gratuity is optional but always appreciated. All menu prices quoted are subject to the current Utah sales tax and are subject to change.

OUTSIDE FOOD AND BEVERAGE

No outside food or beverage will be permitted in the banquet facilities without the express permission of The Lion House. We reserve the right to charge for service on such items.

AUDIO-VISUAL EQUIPMENT

Audio-visual needs, equipment rentals, etc. are arranged directly through The Lion House and should be made no later than 48 hours prior to the event scheduled. ADDITIONAL CHARGES FOR THESE ITEMS MAY BE ASSESSED.

Because of their great value, lamps, art objects, decorations and furniture may not be removed or rearranged. If your banquet room needs to be adjusted, please see The Lion House office or your banquet hostess. Nothing may be affixed to the walls or windows. Arrangements for centerpieces may be made through the office at a charge of $5.00 per centerpiece. Fresh flowers and special decorations may be brought into The Lion House in leak-proof containers. Candles may be lit ONLY in hurricane lamps, candlestick chimneys, or votive containers. Colored linens are also available at no extra charge and should be requested at least one week prior to your event.

PARKING

Parking for Lion House guests is available at The Joseph Smith Memorial Building Parking facility for a total of 3 hours. If this facility is full, parking at the ZCMI Center Parking garage is available free for 2 hours only.

LIABILITY


The Lion House cannot assume responsibility for the damage to or loss of any merchandise or articles left in the building prior to, during, or following an event.
