Meet the Head Baker
Brenda Hopkin
Brenda Hopkin has loved to cook and bake since she was very young. When her mother was asked if she taught Brenda all she knows about baking she said, “I gave her a box of Bisquick and told her to get busy. She did just that.”
Brenda has been a baker for the past 28 years, baking for a college cafeteria, a natural food store and currently the Lion House.
Brenda has been Head Baker at the Lion House for seven years. Her favorite thing in the bakery is developing new recipes. The Bakery makes 4500 rolls, 175 pies, 100 dozen cookies and various other breads, cakes and desserts. At Thanksgiving and Christmas the bakery makes over 8,000 dozen rolls and 1200 pies.
Brenda has been instrumental in developing the products and procedures for the twelve Deseret Book Lion House Pantries.
She has a wonderful husband, 6 great children and 17 super grandchildren.
